FAQs - All About Carpet Dyeing

How to get bleach stains out of carpet?

This is one of the most asked questions about carpet damage, and the internet is full of improper information about how to remove these "stains".

The truth is, when carpet is exposed to bleach or a bleaching agent, it loses carpet color, because the dyes get bleached (think of how a colored shirt gets bleached when exposed to bleach).

Therefore, the only way to restore bleached carpet, is to re dye the area by adding only the colors that have been removed by the chemical. Carpets are manufactured with acid dyes.

Why Carpet Dyeing?

Carpet is expensive. Not only do you have to buy the carpet and pay to have it installed, but you are also paying with your time. It takes effort to find a perfect color, find a carpet store that carries the color, and put aside everything until the carpet is installed. Carpet dyeing is the best solution when carpets have been stained or faded. In addition to restoring the original carpet color, DyeBold can actually change the color of your carpets! How long does the carpet dyeing process take?

Dyeing is comparable in time to getting your carpets cleaned. Whether you are looking to have a bleach spot repaired or have your room dyed, on average the expert will only be in your home for a few hours. Afterward, the carpet dries just like carpet after being cleaned. It is really that convenient.

How long will the color last?

We use the highest quality dyes, the same type used by the carpet manufacturers. Our dyes are washfast and colorfast guaranteed against any unusual fading for the life of the carpet.

Is it toxic/safe?

All dyes and solutions that we use are completely non-toxic and odor-free. Our process is fully safe for you, your children, and your pets. Material Safety Data Sheets are available for your inspection.

How long before I can walk on it?

Freshly-dyed carpet may be walked on within minutes. Though the carpet will be slightly damp, the dyes are immediately colorfast and carpet will dry in a few hours. For fast drying, it is recommended that a/c be lowered, or that a fan be used to help remove moisture from the air for faster drying times.

Is carpet dyeing cheaper than replacing the carpet?

Carpet replacement is expensive, intrusive and inconvenient, and it costs businesses tremendous time and loss of revenue. It is much cheaper to have your carpet dyed than to replace it. Carpet dyeing will typically save you 65-75% when compared to the cost of new carpet replacement. On average carpet dyeing saves about 65% compared to new carpet replacement.

Should I have the carpet cleaned first?

If carpet is excessively soiled, it will need to be cleaned first. For regular condition, our process will both clean and dye the carpet in one step. We add gentle cleaning solutions to the dye mixture that will both clean and dye your carpet in one step, leaving you with a beautiful new color that is squeaky clean.
